The International Informix Users Group (IIUG) will hold its 2009 Informix Conference at the Overland Park Marriott in Overland Park, Kansas (USA). The hotel is just down the street from the IBM Development Lab in Lenexa, home to most of the Informix Development and Support Staff, and a suburb in the metropolitan area of Kansas City, Missouri.

Querix

Querix will showcase 'Lycia' 5.0, the next Generation 4GL compiler with the new IBM Eclipse Based IDE, integrated graphical debugger, XML based form designer, P-Code Platform and Web Service client and server support.

There will also be a technical tutorial session on how to get the most out of your current 4GL application by using, GUI, Web Services and the IDE. Web Services will open up access from and to 4GL- and non-4gl based applications within minutes.

Conference Overview

The event will be a three full day event packed with five tracks of all Informix sessions and a day of tutorials prior to the event.

The Conference Planning Committee selected to run the conference is made up of long time active IIUG volunteers Cindy Lichtenauer, Walt Hultgren, James Edmiston, Tom Beebe, Tammy Frankforter, David Link, Bruce Simms, June Hunt, Daryl Priest and Kernoal Stephens.

This will be the major conference of the year devoted to Informix and related technologies, featuring a great line-up of benefits and activities:

  • Five full tracks for three full days of technical sessions - 88 sessions in all!
  • The top Informix and IBM speakers from around the world.
  • Additional full-day and half-day tutorial sessions on the day before the conference by recognized experts on Informix.
  • Keynotes and special sessions by senior IBM Information Management and Informix Development and Marketing executives.

Technical Session Tracks

Conference sessions will be organized into four general subject area tracks that will run concurrently:

  • The Database Applications and Tools track will cover such topics as application development tools and methodologies, application and database architecture, and maximizing application and SQL performance.

  • The Informix Administration and Performance track will feature sessions on topics including database and data warehouse design and administration, performance tuning, backup and restore, and security.

  • The Informix Edge track will contain talks on aspects of Informix that provide a distinct edge in application development and processing such as emerging technologies like XML and Web services, operation in cross-platform and heterogeneous environments, and support for Open Source and third-party tools.

  • The Advanced Support Topics track will feature studies and advanced sessions on support topics, many taken from real-life development and support scenarios.

Certification Testing

All attendees will be entitled to take unlimited IBM Information Certification Exams (up to one title per day) at no charge (a $150 per test value!!) starting Monday (April 27) morning thru the close of the conference on Wednesday (April 29). Choose from self-study tutorials, preparation documents and certification guides to help you be successful on exam day.

Tutorials

Half-day tutorials will be available on Sunday April 26, 2009. The tutorials cost $150 for one half-day session and $250 for full-day sessions.

Tutorials may be paid in advance at registration or any time after registration by logging in to the conference website with a last name and registration number.

Tutorial titles are not yet finalized. Conference registrants will be advised via email when titles become available.

Title selections may be changed at no charge, but there is a $75 fee for cancellations.

IIUG members get $50.00 off when the above when registering online. The discount applies thru April 21 only. After April 21 on-site registration will be offered as long as space is available at the late registration price of $799.

Conference Registration

Registration includes a full conference pass from April 27 - 29 (Monday - Wednesday) including continental breakfast and lunch each day, the Sunday evening reception and admittance to the Conference party on Monday evening April 27 and Tuesday April 28. The event will officially start on Sunday evening April 26 with a welcome reception in the exhibit hall and conclude on Wednesday April 29 at approximately 5PM.

Optional pre-conference tutorials are available for Sunday April 26, 2009. The tutorials cost $150 for one half-day session or $250 for full-day sessions. Tutorials can be pre-paid at registration or added later, subject to availability. Registrants will be notified when tutorial titles are available and tutorial selections can then be made online.

The official conference hotel is the Marriott Overland Park. We have blocked rooms at a special conference rate of $149 per night ($99 for Friday and Saturday, April 24-25, 2009) and you may register for a hotel room once you have paid for the conference directly on the Marriott Overland Park web page with our special conference code from Marriott or you may contact the hotel directly at    1-913-451-8000   . Be sure to tell them you are with the IIUG (Group Code: INFINFA) to get the special conference rates.

NOTE: The hotel rate will come up for all days as $149 a night including weekend nights, but the the weekend rate of $99 will be applied to all conference attendees prior to check-in. We apologize for this problem, but this is a limitation of Marriott's reservations system which can only have one rate when booking online. Be assured that as long as the conference code is used, the $99 rate will be applied for all Friday and Saturday night conference stays.
