Arachne – The HTML/XML thin-client
Access your applications from almost anywhere, using the power of the Web.
When Arachne becomes available it will give you and your users almost unlimited access to your applications, via the Internet.
If your users are used to working in a browser environment, Arachne, the advanced thin-client, will render your applications with a reassuringly familiar look-and-feel.
Making 4GL applications truly Web-enabled is one of the most challenging tasks for many developers. As virtual offices and tele-working become increasingly popular, more and more people are going to need access to globally shared resources at any time. Many businesses that fail to adapt to this new culture may fail to stay competitive.
This ‘Zero Footprint’ HTML/XML based thin-client opens up deployment of your applications to any machine with a Web browser. Arachne actually sits on a Web server and can communicate with the client machine using the traditional CGI interface, or make use of more efficient Servlets for faster rates of data transfer.
As with all the Querix advanced thin-clients, the user interface can be made more intuitive with its virtually unlimited customisation options; you can enhance the UI by embedding JavaScript within the Arachne configuration file. Using Querix GUI script files, Arachne can create the HTML controls needed to add new functionality to your 4GL applications.
Arachne is now probably the most stable and secure web front-end in its class. If a remote link is ‘dropped’ during operation the new connection will be recognized and the operation will pick up where it left off.
