What is Querix 4GL?

Querix 4GL is based on the original Informix 4GL. Albert Einstein said "Things should be as simple as possible, but not simpler" and we agree. So Querix 4GL is as simple, readable and easy-to-learn as possible, while still being a high-level-syntax language designed for modern business applications.

Querix 4GL is fully compatible with the classic Informix 4GL, Dynamic 4GL BDS and has a vast range of its own language extensions.

Separating the three layers of the business model means that developers can concentrate on business issues, compiling code once, for deployment everywhere. This level of productivity allows complex business models to be built with an optimal use of coding. This makes Querix 4GL probably the most efficient development language on the market.

Once developed, a Querix application can be deployed on any platform, in a single or multi-tier architecture. It can connect virtually any database with one of today's thin-client systems, such as Windows desktops, standalone Java(tm) applications, browser applets, or Web-based XML/HTML applications.

Fourgen Application Migration

If you are interested in migrating your FourGen application to Querix 4GL, for the most part, the migration process should simply be a case of:

* Recompiling the FourGen libraries with Hydra4GL
* Rebuilding your application

In general, the Fourgen libraries should compile without any problems, however based on our experience with our fourgen user customers, it is possible to experience small issues with the Fourgen C (lib_c) library. Any issues that arise with this library can normally be resolved fairly simply however as this library tends to vary between different versions of FourGen, we can only offer specific advise after examining any errors that are produced.

To test the migration without any risks, you can download an evaluation version of Hydra4GL and migrate your application.

The evaluation license will limit you to two runtime connections as well as 1000 SQL transactions or 256 key-presses per process. If you need any additional help please do not hesitate to contact us on support@querix.com.
