Know Which Querix Tools to use

Which Querix tools do I need for my platforms, and what else do I need in order for them to work successfully?

Which Querix Products do I Need?

The first thing that you will need is 'Hydra4GL'. This is the package you need to use to compile your applications to work with the Querix thin-clients. 'Hydra4GL' also has an integrated forms designer, program editor, and project directory structure.

You should only require one installation of 'Hydra4GL' for all your needs. The graphical thin-clients will work with the compiler, over the network if necessary.

    Phoenix

Phoenix is the Querix thin-client developed to display your applications in a Windows-style environment. Phoenix connects to the remote 'Hydra4GL' server to run your 4GL applications.

    Chimera

Chimera is the Querix thin-client developed to display your applications on a Java Runtime Engine. This gives your applications great cross-platform compatibility, as it can run on Windows, Mac and Unix/Linux machines.

You can also use Chimera to run your applications as applets embedded in an HTML page, on a Web browser. To help you write applet launch programs there is a configuration tool, which is part of 'Hydra4GL' and Chimera, called 'JNLP & HTML Creator'.

Using this tool, Chimera can also be used for the development of standalone, platform-independent applications. In this situation the client is installed remotely from a Web server. Connection to the server and application are made using a Java WebStart applet, which is embedded in a Web page.

    Arachne

Arachne is the Querix thin-client developed to allow access to your applications via a Web browser (connecting to a WebServer via the Internet or an Intranet).

You need to download Arachne for the platform your Web server is running on. Arachne is installed on the Web server, not on the Application server.

What are the platform, tools & hardware requirements ?
